For more than 50 years, Van Ness Recovery House has opened its doors to individuals seeking a new beginning. Our historic home, built over 100 years ago, has provided safety, stability, and support for thousands on their recovery journey. Now, for the first time in its history, the House is undergoing a complete renovation — one that honors our legacy while building a stronger future for our community.

Our Progress So Far

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we’ve already made major strides in transforming the House into a modern, safe, and sustainable home for recovery. Completed renovations include:

Three of four bathrooms, now fully updated and ADA-compliant.
A brand-new kitchen, nearly complete and designed to serve nutritious, family-style meals.
Upgraded electrical and plumbing systems, now commercial-grade and fully up to code to ensure long-term safety and reliability.

These upgrades have laid the foundation for the next phase of our campaign — turning the Van Ness Recovery House into a true community-centered, fully modernized facility.

New front patio with a secure perimeter gate, creating a peaceful, protected outdoor space.

Exterior renovation, restoring the beauty and strength of our century-old structure.
Renovated meeting and classroom spaces, providing dedicated areas for group therapy, education, and recovery programs.
Refreshed living room and bedrooms, designed to create calm, comfortable, and dignified environments that promote healing.
