Former Resident Testimonials

I have achieved periods of physical sobriety before by going to meetings, having a sponsor and doing some step work. However, it wasn't until I came to the Van Ness Recovery House after a long and painful relapse that I actually started to recover. I learned to use some new tools which have improved my chances at living a full and enjoyable life of recovery.
G.M.
VNRH gave me the tools to start a new life as a sober woman & the opportunity to build a new, chosen family. The things I learned here about recovery & myself have given me a strong foundation for a sober & authentic life. I will be forever grateful for this place & the amazing people that work here.
Joan M.
The Van Ness House has been a major support in my recovery, helping me heal and grow with purpose. They've given me tools to handle the outside world with confidence and clarity. Most of all, the community here has made me feel understood and supported.
William D.
This house saved my brother's life 15 years ago and also saved mine. I learned how to maintain my sobriety here. I also learned to how to be responsible. I thought I was going to be treated differently because I am straight, but I was treated equally. I am grateful for all of my recovery tools.
Josue R.
VNRH taught me a new way of life. They provided me with a space where I was allowed to be myself and helped me grow into the person I had lost to addiction. They gave me hope back.
Tauhid I.
